CNN IBN Coverage of IAMAI survey

Posted by Shrinidhi Hande

India’s leading News Channel, CNN IBN gave an extensive coverage to IAMAI’s recenlty held I-Cube 2009-2010 survey on intenet usage in India

The news channel quoted Internet and Mobile Association of India President Dr Subho Ray, who said

“We did the survey across 31 cities in the country, among 19,000 households, 68,000 individuals,”However school and college students are the largest group of web users, young males too have a sizable chunk. Whereas women have a tiny presence. Cyber cafes are the favorite place to log in from, with free office internet coming a close second. While a quarter of all users log in from home, about 2 million Indians surf the web on their phones.

Factors like an increased popularity of smart phones and the imminent arrival of 3G networks means more people will access the web on their mobiles. By next year we expect the figures to double. “

Read the complete coverage on CNN-IBN Website. The detailed report on the survey is available here

Participate in a quick survey on National Security

Posted by Shrinidhi Hande

Have you ever thought seriously about National Security? Is national security a topic meant for discussion only when there’s a bomb blast/terror attack? Are we prepared for a stringent national security policy above all personal/political/religious sentiments? Are we ready to give up personal preferences, privacy and even life, in the interest of National security?

We’re eager to hear from you about your thoughts on National Security. This way, even if you can not attend the event physically, you can still get involved, make your presence felt. Please spare a few moments to participate in the survey below. Selected thoughts will be published in the blog and will also be shared with the speakers/panelists, where feasible
