Suryanarayanan A is a Chartered Accountant by qualification, and is an alumnus of the International Masters Program in Management at IIMB. He is the Chief Operating Officer at the NSRCEL. His leadership has created a great impact in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation.
He has over 28 years of professional experience , both as a corporate executive and an entrepreneur. After spending the initial years in the finance function at Union Carbide and Nicholas laboratories, he joined a family run pharma start up company, Recon and served as its Group Finance Director. His stint as a serial entrepreneur started in 2000 and since then he has successfully founded, funded and exited healthcare ventures including MedyBiz, a disease management company and LifeKen, an organized pharmacy retail chain.
The NSRCEL has been formed with this mission to bring ideas to implementation through a structured mentored Programme which will help entrepreneurs see their idea taking shape into a planned Organization which will render itself in a phased manner to be a successful business entity. Gulzar Azad is currently into Mobile Partnerships: Lead – India and Apac from July 2009. His contribution includes Strategic consulting, technology development and business planning. Technology domain – Search, Maps, Location, GSM (GPRS, 3G), SIM, Android, Device apps. Business Verticals – Strategic contracts, Mobile Ads.
Industry Evangelism – Adoption of mobile internet, innovation in UX and a continuous introspecting QoS. Prior to this he was into Mobile Partnerships Manager (December 2006 — July 2009), where he contributed to working for Partner Solutions Organization in Google India, on strategic consulting, technical integration, solution architecture, mobile ad revenue optimizations, product innovation.
He was also associated with Idea Cellular from April 2002 to January 2004 at VAS product innovation group, aimed at creating a CoE (Centre of Excellence) under the leadership of Navin Chadha from AT&T (now CIO at Tata TeleServices) and Dharmesh Gupta (Chief n Mentor). Together with a small team of expert programmers they introduced some of the pioneering mobile VAS products including m-coupons, location based search on SIM, differential content billing platform and music messaging service. Most of these products were designed and created in-house with the energy and enthusiasm of a startup functioning within the larger organization.
