Manoj Mitta, Sr Editor, TOI set the stage for session 2. Here’s an excerpt of his introductory talk

I’m a journalist and I don’t quite belong here…
We’re constantly with tussle with marketing guys for space… There’s a tendency of money speaking everywhere… Centre of gravity in India media has shifted from media to advertiser… We’re increasingly an infotainment band and less and less a civic society institution…
Things have changed, for better or worse. We’ve to be conscious of readers, who are increasingly of younger generations. Why do some channels and publications of reputation are not able to connect? We can’t sustain our journalistic ambitions and we can’t get salary unless the marketing aspect is taken care of…
We’ve an interesting panel here and we can look forward to an interesting session.

Session 2 moderator Shailesh Rao, Managing Director, Google India asked panelists to sum up their views in one single sentence each.
Here’s how each speaker summed up their talks, in one sentence each.
Mobile ad is inevitable. Question is what you’re going to do about it
Leap of faith. We need to believe in inertial. Someone will have to play the lead. We’re young and it’ll take time.
How do we integrate everything into one platform? That will be the key.
Mobile operators will have to work with innovators to move away from traditional sms ads and do something different and unique
Simplification and packaging of mobile will help.
